How tigers communicate                   by Apphia.

Tiger     can      COMMUNICATE       with  other   animals    in  many    ways    .They   do  smell   on  the  tree    to   tell    Others   stop     this     is  my  spot   to   hunt   when   tigers   smell  they  can  tell    Others     what   they    smell  Like  food  and  they  roar   because   they’re   angry. Tigers   Like   smelling.
                           Holiday happy sleep over

On Tuesday my Sister and my Dad went to pick up Saffron from her house, and then we went to rock climbing. Saffron went to the top of nearly every rock climbing top. There was one that was as slippery as a slug. Then we went back to my   house. Then when we got to my house we all got in the bath and played a game in the bath called guess my person. Then we got dressed into our pyjamas. Then we got into bed and watched a movie called the bee movie. We watched It all most all night, then we eventually got to sleep. The next morning we went crazy golfing. Saffron was so close to getting a hole in one. My sister was first then me, then you know who Saffron! Then we dropped Saffron back. Then we went back home and got are swimming stuff for the beach.I was asleep when we got home and left for Mission bay beach. By Caoimhe

Making pancakes

The Kangas group read a book about pancakes, so we made some. Here is Faris beating the egg.
                                          Max added the sugar.

                                          We all stirred the BATTER.

We needed a few ingredients and utensils before we could get started. Here are the things we used. We like pancakes, especially when they have Golden Syrup on them!

The new compost bins

The compost bins are all painted and look great. Mrs Bridgman  (Ms Bridgman's Mum) came to talk to us about composting, then we got started.
This is what the compost looks like once it has been working for a few weeks. Can you see that fat worm? This compost is going to be used to feed our gardens at school.
Mrs Bridgman was impressed with our new compost bins and was happy to talk to us about her gardening expertise.
Here is Jaei with Jae-in, collecting dry leaves to put into the bins. We put twigs, leaves, blood and bone then grass clippings. We watered it, and hope for a little bit of rain to keep it watered...and we will WAIT PATIENTLY...
Faris collected lots of leaves and threw them into the compost bins. Good job, Faris!

Greedy Cat show

We had a wonderful time at the show. Thanks to the three Dads who accompanied Room 2. The children thoroughly enjoyed the show - and so did the adults. This is the stage setting. Talk to your child about how the letters were used as cupboards and other things.

The Barber of Seville opera today

The NZ Opera company's production of the Barber of Seville was excellent. Please ask your children about the experience. It really was something special and they were an outstanding audience. The video below is one they put together so you can get an idea in 3 minutes of what we saw today!

Cultural assembly

The assembly yesterday hosted by Year two was very colourful and it was great to see so many parents there. Thanks for coming. It really makes all our hard work worthwhile when there is an adult audience to support our students. Miss Hebstrom took this photo of the students in the ESOL group. I will post other photos as they become available.
The number of nationalities represented in Year two is really quite amazing, as you will have heard at assembly. The variety of  costumes and dress, and the artifacts brought along added to a very happy celebration of our differences.
